Umoja African Arts Company is a non-profit organization founded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1989.  Our mission is to raise awareness and increase appreciation for the rich culture of Africa.  “Unity or On” is the meaning of “Umoja” in the Kiswahili language of Africa.  Through our website you will be able to find out information about our organization including educational programs we offer, workshops we host, upcoming events, bios of our artists and much more.

Dear UMOJA Friend,
Unity is the meaning of UMOJA and it comes from the Swahili language of Africa.  UMOJA African Arts Company has been serving Pittsburgh since 1989 through the presentation of African arts, culture and heritage and in keeping with the meaning of UMOJA; our vision is to bridge culture by promoting unity through the inclusion of African art, culture and heritage into the universal fabric of life.
